BUU is sad to acknowledge the departure of Don Van Vliet, Captain Beefheart, who died on 17th. December 2010. The music of Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band was the soundtrack of my youth and to this day his albums rate among my all-time favourites. The influence can be heard in numerous bands who have emerged since the 1980's, when Don Van Vliet himself retired from music-making to concentrate on painting.
